Family First supports early childhood education for the most vulnerable children in our community.

We believe that education should not be lost due to poverty, and that it is a powerful tool in breaking the cycle of poverty. Early childhood education interventions have proven to improve all children’s development and act as a protective factor against the future onset of disease and disability. Children disadvantaged by poverty may experience an even greater benefit because early childhood development programs seek to minimize or prevent gaps in school readiness between low-income and other students.

Family First believes in a holistic model of outreach that works with the whole person;

Body, Mind, and Soul.

Working with the whole family leads to long-lasting change. Our parent empowerment program starts by address the most intrinsic barriers that stand in the way of a bright future. We build on the core values of living trauma-free and taking control of the future by developing a growth mindset. Parents receive an education in how to manage a successful, local business. Then they receive a business loan and support during their first year of operation. By the time a parent graduates from our program, they are independent business owners who are able to provide for their family.
